Amp removal or amp bypass 1989-1997 Explorer

Most Ford Explorer 1989-1997 Have an Amp. Most problem with the radio system require you to get to the amp or if you plan to upgrade the system or add a cd changer you will need to get to the amp. The Amp is located behind the rear seat passenger side, behind the side panel by the wheel well. The information below will help you to get to the amp.
Open rear hatch, and remove floor trim below rear hatch door, this trim unsnaps
On passenger side, start with 2 lower snaps, be careful when removing all snaps, There are brittle and will crack
Remove all the rest of the snaps( next 4 Photos)

 

Remover seat belt bolt and close clip
Fold rear seat forward, pull carpet out of the way and pull panel toward middle of vehicle, Reinstall in reverse order.
